The Bermuda Triangle is a real phenomenon of the 20th century, the mystery of which has been wrestled with by scientists, as well as ufologists, psychics and representatives of a number of other dubious professions for decades. Only a person who has spent his entire life in a bunker has never heard of an ominous place in the Atlantic Ocean where ships and planes disappear. The stories of sailors, residents of nearby areas and some representatives of alternative science, richly seasoned with fantasies, cause an unhealthy chill on the back and forever discourage anyone who had previously planned a vacation somewhere nearby from traveling to these places.

There are many versions of the reasons for the loss of transport in these waters. Some believe that people and equipment are being abducted by aliens, especially since the version of their existence has been significantly heated up. Others suggest government conspiracy, the dominance of pirates, the influence of ghosts and poltergeists, divine intervention and other speculations. Scientists are more skeptical and offer much more down-to-earth versions.

The Bermuda Triangle is, of course, an imaginary line that runs through Florida, Bermuda and Puerto Rico to form a triangle (some seriously suggest that the Bermuda Triangle can be seen). The ocean in these places is incredibly lively, there are a lot of resorts and remarkable places that attract tourists. Even superstitious captains have to grit their teeth to navigate their ships through the Bermuda Triangle (Devil's Triangle, as some religious people like to call it) to earn a living. However, rumors about the paranormal features of this part of the Atlantic are greatly exaggerated - the vast majority of ships and planes overcome this area without any incidents. But there is always a chance to go to sea and not return.

It is human nature to exaggerate everything. Both for selfish purposes and from a lack of understanding of the world around us. However, there is no smoke without fire. The mystery of the Bermuda Triangle really exists, albeit not on the scale that is portrayed in literature and cinema.

What is the Bermuda Triangle

From unofficial sources about mysterious disappearances ships in the Bermuda Triangle area became known in 1840. According to rumors that have survived to this day, then the French ship Rosalie washed up on the shores near Nassau, on which there was no crew, but the ship itself looked completely serviceable. The sails on the ship were raised and it looked as if the ship's crew had simply disappeared in an instant. In the 20th century, skeptical people refuted this story, but the sediment remained.
The topic of the Bermuda Triangle began to be returned to in the middle of the last century. This was influenced by a number of inexplicable events that occurred in these waters, as well as journalists who, for the sake of beautiful headlines and creativity, called the territory, an area of about 4 million square kilometers, the place where Atlantis disappeared.

Charles Berlitz, an American writer who published a book with facts about the Bermuda Triangle in 1974, had a great influence on public attention to the phenomenon in Bermuda waters. In it, Berlitz collected known cases of mysterious disappearances of vehicles in the area, and also tried to analyze the events and come to their reasons. The book became a bestseller not only among the American population, but throughout the world. It was from this moment that the public, which has always been greedy for all sorts of hoaxes, showed interest in the problem of the paranormal region in the Atlantic Ocean.

In fact, the Bermuda Triangle is not really a triangle, no matter how punish it may sound. If you analyze all the missing vehicles in this area using a map, and then connect the lines, you will get more of a diamond or something similar, so the area does not have strictly defined boundaries. If there is something mystical in this place, then you should not feel safe when going beyond the triangle.

Known cases of missing vehicles in the Bermuda Triangle

If the problem of the Bermuda Triangle is exaggerated, it is not too much. Mysterious events really took place in this area throughout the 20th century, some of which even scientists are still unable to explain. At the bottom of the ocean in these places there are many sunken ships, more large quantity The ships and planes were never found. We tried to collect the most strange disappearances and crashes of vehicles in the ominous Devil's Triangle.

The disappearance of the Avengers. Link 19

Perhaps one of the most controversial and mystical events associated with the Bermuda Triangle occurred on December 5, 1945. Berlitz wrote about him in his book. On this day, a flight of five Avenger torpedo bombers took off from the Naval Aviation Base in Fort Lauderdale to perform a routine training flight. The weather was excellent: calm, clear sky, excellent visibility. 14 highly experienced pilots (some with 2,500 hours of flight time) set off along the standard route for the air base to drop bombs on a mock target and return home. But they didn't return.

At 14.10 local time, the torpedo bombers left the base, after which experts can only judge what happened from the entries in the radio communication logs. An hour and a half after the start of the flight, radio conversations were detected at the airbase, in which the squadron pilots were anxiously talking about the fact that the navigation devices had failed, all the compasses had failed, and the flight had gotten lost.

The leadership of Fort Lauderdale gave the order to establish contact with group 19, and after half an hour the rescue unit managed to contact the leading link, Captain Taylor. The commander confirmed that he had no navigation and could not see land below him. The planes wandered around the Bermuda Triangle for several hours, after which they ran out of fuel and were forced to splash down on the surface of the ocean. After that, all communication with the crews was lost.

The airbase authorities immediately sent two Mariner rescue seaplanes to the area where Unit 19 was supposed to splash down, but on different routes. One of them, board number 49, after reporting that it was arriving in the area of the bearing of the missing torpedo bombers, suddenly disappeared from the radio air. It was never possible to establish contact with him.

At 21.20 local time, the captain of one of the oil tankers located in the Bermuda Triangle area sent a message to the coast guard that he saw an explosion in the sky, which later left an oil slick on the water. The tanker crew did not find anything under the explosion site.

The airbase headquarters at that moment grabbed their heads and gave the order to the second Mariner to fly to the coordinates of the oil slick indicated by the sailors from the tanker to try to find the wreckage of the rescue aircraft. When board No. 32 “Mariner” arrived at the scene, it could not find any debris or even an oil stain on the water. If there was anything there, it disappeared without a trace. Further searches for Flight 19 also did not bring success, and the remaining Mariner had to return to the air base with nothing. To this day, none of the planes have ever been found.

Such mysticism was no longer part of any framework, and the US authorities ordered one of the largest search and rescue operations in history. 300 army aircraft were scrambled to comb the area. 21 vessels with the latest bearing-finding equipment went to sea. Ground searches were also carried out with the help of teams of volunteers who were supposed to look for aircraft wreckage washed ashore. To no avail. People could not find anything that would indicate the fate of Flight 19 and the rescue plane.

Missing US Air Force C-119 military transport aircraft

On June 6, 1965, a C-119 long-range military transport aircraft disappeared from radar screens near the Bahamas. He was supposed to deliver four mechanics to Grand Turk, but never made it to his destination. The last radio message from C-119 on the ground was received when it was approximately 180 kilometers from Grand Turk, after which the connection was lost.

The entire local coast guard and military were mobilized to search for the missing plane, combing 77,000 square miles a day for five days, but with no success. The plane disappeared without a trace.

This is one of the few cases of missing vehicles in the Bermuda Triangle that has been linked to alien abduction.

Disappearance of the Cyclops

If the disappearance of planes in the Bermuda Triangle area can be associated with a banal crash, then the disappearance of huge ships without a trace is not so easy to explain.

In March 1918, the US Navy troop transport ship Cyclops set sail with a cargo of manganese ore from the port of Rio de Janeiro towards the North Atlantic States. There were 306 passengers on board this huge ship, not counting the crew. Throughout the entire voyage, there were no alarm messages from the crew. The ship was last seen near the island of Barbados, where it made a short stop. After that no one saw him.

The search for the missing Cyclops lasted for decades, but neither the wreckage, nor the hull of the ship, nor the bodies of the dead passengers could be found. The ship disappeared without a trace.

The mystery of the Rubicon ship

One of the most mysterious events related to the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle occurred on October 22, 1944. Then the US Navy discovered a Cuban cargo ship called the Rubicon, which was drifting independently in the waters Atlantic Ocean. When the military boarded the ship, it turned out that the only living creature on the ship was a dog. The team disappeared without a trace.

The Rubicon was in excellent condition, with no visible damage from the storm or anything else, the crew's personal belongings were in place, and the galley looked as if the crew were about to eat. The only entry in the ship's log was made on September 26, when the Rubicon entered the port of Havana. There was not a single lifeboat on board the ship.

The main version of the disappearance of the Rubicon crew is an ordinary storm, which forced the crew to urgently escape from the ship, but the order that reigned on the deck and in the cabins indicated that the storm could hardly have caused the disappearance of people.

Disappearance of a Douglas DC-3 passenger plane

The Bermuda Triangle continued to take lives. On December 28, 1948, a Douglas DC-3 passenger plane disappeared without a trace in this area, carrying 29 passengers and 3 crew members.

At first, the flight from Puerto Rico to Miami proceeded as normal, the crew kept in touch with the ground and there were no signs of trouble. At 4:31 a.m. local time, the captain of the plane told dispatchers that he was approximately 50 miles from Miami and would soon arrive at his destination, but for some reason this message was not received in Miami, but it was intercepted by a dispatcher from New Orleans, who forwarded the information to Miami airport. After this, many attempts were made to call the crew members of the Douglas DC-3, but they were unsuccessful. Communication was lost, as was the plane.

No debris or traces of a crash were found in the area of the aircraft's intended route. Most are inclined to believe that the disappearance of the plane is associated with a UFO.

Reasons for the disappearance of ships and planes in the Bermuda Triangle

Both scientists, mystics, and conspiracy theorists put forward a lot of different reasons for the crash and disappearance of transport in the Bermuda Triangle area. Among dozens of crazy theories, those that intersect with other speculations and facts characteristic of human culture stand out.

There are entire groups of people who claim that responsibility for the disappearance of ships in the Bermuda Triangle lies with the inhabitants of the missing continent - Atlantis. Others believe that in this area there is increased activity of UFOs and aliens who are secretly studying life on our planet. Skeptics put forward their theories, which look quite scientific, against the backdrop of the words of conspiracy theory lovers.

However, the coast guard and Insurance companies They unanimously claim that the Bermuda Triangle is no different from other areas of the ocean, and the percentage of disappearances of ships and aircraft in it is the same as in other parts of our planet.

Magnetic distortions and anomalies

Regular reports of navigation equipment failure in the Bermuda Triangle area indicate that a magnetic anomaly may occur in this area incredible strength. Some believe that this occurs when tectonic plates move, which creates electric and magnetic fields that affect both devices and humans. This theory has many opponents among both scientists and doctors, despite the fact that it looks very scientific against the background of fiction from other conspiracy theorists.

rogue waves

Another theory for the death of ships in the Bermuda Triangle was the version of rogue waves that occur in these places with enviable regularity.

Rogue waves (rogue waves) arise spontaneously and are isolated in ocean waters. Their height can reach 20-30 meters, and such a colossus poses a mortal danger to any modern vessel. Even the strongest hull of the ship may not be able to withstand the water pressure that a wave hits the ship at high speed, which makes the chances of survival almost zero.

Such waves can occur even in complete calm and are not related to weather conditions. However, this theory does not explain the deaths of planes in this area.

Release of huge bubbles of methane

There are versions of scientists that in the Bermuda Triangle area there is a possibility of the formation of giant methane bubbles from cracks on the ocean floor.

Experimental studies have shown that a huge and solid bubble of gas, such as methane, when appearing under a ship, can create a condition where the ship simply falls into the void under its bottom, after which the ocean waters instantly close over its mast, not giving a single chance of surfacing.

Such a theory could also explain the dead crews on ships that were discovered several times in these latitudes. Methane could easily poison people without any visible damage to their bodies.

Also, the release of methane in huge quantities can cause plane crashes. Flammable gas entering aircraft engines explodes, leading to disaster.

Again, this theory does not explain why researchers often fail to find a single piece of debris from a missing ship or plane.

The mystery of the Bermuda Triangle is still alive. Despite the fact that many consider the problem of this area to be far-fetched and exaggerated, the presence of more than 200 incidents of the crash or disappearance of vehicles in these waters in the 20th century alone suggests that legends do not arise out of nowhere. The mystery will live on until the Devil's Triangle stops taking unsuspecting people with it.

Many people know the Bermuda Triangle as an anomalous zone in which phenomena inexplicable to people occur. But not everyone knows what ocean it is in and where to look for it on the world map.

Location

The location of the Bermuda Triangle is conventionally determined by three symbolic peaks located in the Atlantic Ocean. These include:

  • Island of Puerto Rico;
  • Southern Cape of the American state of Florida (Miami);
  • Bermuda.

This territory on the map looks like a triangle. The coordinates of the Bermuda Triangle are set as follows: 26°37′45″ N. w. and 70°53′01″ W. d. Neighboring this anomalous place are: Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and the southern coast of the American state of Florida.

To more clearly imagine where the Bermuda Triangle is located on the map, you need to find its southern corners of Puerto Rico and the southern cape of Florida and extend the conditional lines upward to Bermuda.

What is the Bermuda Triangle

The territory of this place occupies an area of more than one million square kilometers. The relief here is very interesting and varied. If you look at satellite photos, here are:

In the western part of the triangle, the warm Gulf Stream flows along almost the entire conventional border, which increases the air temperature by an average of 10 degrees compared to other parts of this territory. As a result, fog often forms here. Also average speed This current is about 10 km per hour, which significantly affects the speed of ships falling under its influence.

In addition to the Gulf Stream, other fast currents, which can never be predicted. Their appearance is associated with ebb and flow in shallow waters. Such currents can form whirlpools, which also have an unpleasant effect on the control of watercraft.

Based natural features area, hurricanes often arise here, which generate high waves and fast currents. It is not surprising that in this place, where the Bermuda Triangle is located, ships constantly sank and planes crashed.

This place first became famous in 1840, when a French ship was discovered drifting near the capital of Bermuda. It was completely intact, but none of the crew was on it. It later turned out that the ship ran aground, and the crew abandoned the ship in boats

Secrets of the Bermuda Triangle

Modern travelers make many videos of anomalous phenomena in this zone, which cause plane and ship crashes and lead to the death of people. The main reasons for this are:

  • Emerging magnetic anomalies, knocking down operating equipment of ships. They arise mainly during the movement of tectonic plates.
  • The appearance of methane gas bubbles. They appear from cracks when plates move on the ocean floor. When the bubble bursts, a funnel remains in its place, and if it gets into it, the ship crashes.
  • Infrasonic waves that form in the ocean during storms. They enter the enclosed space of ships and cause discomfort and panic in humans.

In addition, constantly forming storms and fast currents create a lot of danger when ships and planes enter this area.

It is generally accepted that the Bermuda Triangle is a small area located in the Atlantic Ocean, in which disappearances, covered in secrets, of the sea and air layers supposedly occur. There are even restriction lines: from Florida to Bermuda, then to Puerto Rico, then back to Florida, through the Bahamas.

Ocean and sea mysteries have interested people of all times. There are a lot of cards that depict various monsters. Just remember the legends that tell about the Kraken. No matter how time changes, and no matter how civilization develops, some mysteries still remain unsolved. A clear example is the Bermuda Triangle, which inspires fear in many people. The brightest minds are trying to explain the mysterious phenomena and disappearances that occur in this area. As is already known, scientists have not been very successful in this matter.

Why a triangle?

If you believe the existing theory of the Bermuda Triangle, then the territory itself does not have clear boundaries. Scientists believe that the highest points of this unexplained phenomenon are: Bermuda, Florida and Puerto Rico. Although statistics say that most anomalies occur outside this conventional zone. Very close, but not in it. People who are engaged in research change its guidelines at their own discretion. It should be noted that the name Bermuda Triangle began to be used not so long ago, in the 50s. Only thanks the latest technologies Scientists have been able to track various anomalous incidents that occur in the area. However, no technology can explain why planes and ships disappear from all radars and monitors in one second.

Various events that took place in this anomalous zone.

The territory of the Bermuda Triangle was under surveillance in 1945. Rescuers, specialists and scientists took part in the project. It was thanks to this team that 140 thousand human lives were saved. It seems that the secret is about to be revealed. But it's not that simple. Everything that became known to scientists only baffled them more. From the very moment the triangle was observed, more than 100 pieces of equipment, both water and air, disappeared without a trace in this territory. They simply disappeared, leaving no trace behind. There were no tell-tale oil stains, no debris, nothing at all. The bottom of the Bermuda Triangle was examined completely, every centimeter, but nothing was found. Since no passengers were found, the Bermuda Triangle was nicknamed the Graveyard of the Atlantic.

What is the purpose of scientists being in the Bermuda Triangle?

As you already understand, scientists are seriously interested in the Bermuda Triangle. They examined not only the ocean floor, but also thoroughly studied minerals, as well as the topography of the bottom itself. They even examined all weather conditions, as well as how water flow affects the atmosphere. During the study, scientists managed to discover a lot of new things, but these discoveries did not bring them one step closer to solving the Bermuda Triangle. They were never able to understand why ships and planes with people on board simply disappeared, by chance, ending up in this zone. The only thing that scientists were able to prove is that the Bermuda Triangle is a unique part of the ocean, which has unique, previously unprecedented properties and conditions. However, this in no way explains all the tragedies that happened here.

What is the mysterious pyramid in the center of the Bermuda Triangle?

To be fair, it is worth noting that one important discovery Scientists still managed to do it. They didn’t keep silent about it, but they didn’t give it wide publicity either. American scientists in 1992 analyzed the bottom over the territory of the Bermuda Triangle. A large pyramid was discovered in its very center. Interesting fact: its dimensions were almost three times greater than the dimensions of the Cheops pyramid. It took researchers more than a month to fully study it. The pyramid was not only incredibly large, but also had a very smooth surface. The signals that were reflected from this object established that the material from which this huge pyramid is made is perfectly smooth. Not a single shell or algae was attached to it. Scientists have not been able to find anything at all that would indicate that the pyramid is located deep under water. People who have directly seen the pyramid claim that the material from which it is made is very reminiscent of glass or ceramics, and polished. We also did not find any divisions into blocks. As far as is known, no official reports have been carried out on the pyramid located at the bottom of the Bermuda Triangle. Perhaps they were strictly classified.

Perhaps the legacy of the Atlanteans?

Let's first remember the legends in which the inhabitants of Atlantis, at one time, created a kind of repository of knowledge just before the death of the continent. Such repositories are still located under the Potala Temple, Tibet, and under the Pyramid of Cheops itself, Egypt. Scientists immediately assumed that the sunken continent of Atlantis was located in the Bermuda Triangle area. However, this theory has not received any confirmation. Today, not far from the very shores of Puerto Rico, people often notice various objects, shining and flying. It is worth noting that from the Bermuda Triangle itself, researchers have more than once noticed that unidentified objects flew straight out of the depths of the ocean, and took off in a zigzag motion.

Riddles and secrets.

Many are confident that everything secret will sooner or later become apparent. By far the most important question scientists: “What exactly does the Bermuda Triangle phenomenon hide?” We don't know the answer yet. We can only wait and watch the incredible events that take place in this territory. As a rule, such events are not pleasant. And on this moment The Bermuda Triangle is both frightening and fascinating to scientists and researchers from all over the world.

“... Many ships and planes disappeared here without a trace. More than a thousand people have died here over the past 26 years. However, during the search it was not possible to find a single corpse or debris...” Creepy place, is not it?

The Bermuda Triangle is a relatively recent sensation. Back at the turn of the 40-50s of our century, no one would have even thought of pronouncing these two now magic words, and even more so write something on this topic. The first to use this phrase was the American E. Jones, who published a small brochure entitled “Bermuda Triangle”. It was published in 1950 in Tampa, Florida and contained only 17 pages, illustrated with six photographs. No one, however, paid much attention to her, and she was forgotten. Revival came only in 1964, when Bermuda triangle wrote another American - Vincent Gaddis. A multi-page article entitled “The Deadly Bermuda Triangle” was published in the famous spiritualist magazine Argos. Later, having collected Additional information, Gaddis has already devoted an entire chapter, thirteen, to the Bermuda Triangle in the very popular book “Invisible Horizons”. Since then, the Bermuda Triangle has been constantly in the spotlight. In the late 60s - early 70s, publications about the forgotten and newest secrets of the Bermuda Triangle poured out as if from a cornucopia. All of them were published in the USA or UK. The beginning was made by John Spencer with two editions of a book telling about numerous mysteries, secrets and supernatural phenomena - “Purgatory of the Damned” (Limbo of the Lost). Then it was the turn of A. Jeffrey, E. Nichols and R. Wiener. The concept of the "Bermuda Triangle" is firmly rooted in people's minds. But the real explosion occurred in 1974 after the release of the book by the uncrowned king of experts on the secrets of the Bermuda Triangle, Charles Berlitz, “The Bermuda Triangle” (Doubleday Publishing House).

So, the Bermuda Triangle is a well-known anomalous zone. It is located between Bermuda, Miami in Florida and Puerto Rico. The area of the Bermuda Triangle is over one million square kilometers. The bottom topography in this water area has been well studied. On the shelf, which makes up a significant part of this seabed, many drillings have been carried out in order to find oil and other minerals. Current, water temperature at different times of the year, its salinity and the movement of air masses over the ocean - all these natural data are included in all special catalogs. This area is not particularly different from other similar geographical locations. And yet, it was in the area of the Bermuda Triangle that ships and then planes mysteriously disappeared.

...On March 4, 1918, the American cargo ship Cyclops, with a displacement of nineteen thousand tons and 309 crew members, departed from the island of Barbados. On board there was a valuable cargo - manganese ore. It was one of the largest ships, it was 180 meters long and had excellent seaworthiness. The Cyclops was heading to Baltimore, but never arrived at its destination. No one recorded any distress signals from it. He also disappeared, but where? At first it was assumed that he was attacked by a German submarine. Walked First World War, and German submarines roamed the waters of the Atlantic. But the study of military archives, including German ones, did not confirm this assumption. If the Germans had attacked, torpedoed and sank such a large ship as the Cyclops, they would certainly have informed the whole world about it. And "Cyclops" simply disappeared. Many versions appeared, among them there were both worthy of attention and those purely fantastic, but not a single one of them gave an answer to the only one, but the most main question: Where did Cyclops go?

...Several years later, the command of the US Navy made the following statement: “The disappearance of the Cyclops is one of the largest and most intractable cases in the annals of the navy. Even the exact location of its disaster has not been established; the causes of the misfortune are not known; not the slightest trace has been found traces of death. None of the proposed versions of the disaster provides a satisfactory explanation; it is not clear under what circumstances it disappeared."
...Military people, committed to strict logic, admitted their utter helplessness. So what could have caused the disappearance of the ship? The then US President Thomas Woodrow Wilson said that only God and the sea know what happened to the ship.

Suddenly... planes began to disappear in the Bermuda Triangle. With their disappearance, interest in the mysterious Triangle increased significantly and began to be fueled in every possible way by the omnivorous “yellow press”. It is no coincidence that not only sailors and pilots, but also geographers, deep sea scientists, and governments paid attention to the Bermuda Triangle. different countries.
The most mysterious story so far is the disappearance of 6 planes that occurred on the evening of December 5, 1945.

…December 5, 1945 was an ordinary day for the US Air Force based in Florida. At that time, the service there consisted of a large number of pilots who had extensive combat flying experience, so accidents in the air occurred relatively rarely. An experienced commander with more than 2,500 flying hours was Lieutenant Charles K. Taylor, and the rest of the pilots of his 19th flight, many of whom were senior to Taylor, could also be relied upon. And this time the task they received was not too difficult: to set a direct course for Chicken Shoal, located north of the island of Bimini. (V. Voitov “Science refutes fiction” Moscow, 1988) Before the usual training exercises, the combat pilots joked and had fun, only one of them felt something wrong in his soul and remained on the ground at his own peril and risk. This saved his life... The weather was magnificent, five three-seat Avenger torpedo bombers ("Avengers") took off and headed east, having on board (remember this figure!) 5.5 hours of fuel... No one saw them again What happened to them afterwards - only God knows. There have been plenty of various hypotheses (most often far-fetched) and versions on this matter. All of them remained unsaid for only one reason - the missing planes were not found. But just recently... However, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. First we must try to restore the picture of the tragedy. We warn you in advance that the details are taken from investigations and official publications in Florida, so many of the details are very different from what you may have read...
At 14.10, planes with 14 pilots (instead of 15) took off, reached the target, and at about 15.30–15.40 set off on a return course to the southwest. And a few minutes later at 15.45 at the command post of the Fort Lauderdale airbase they received the first strange message:
- We have an emergency situation. Obviously we've lost our way. We do not see the earth, I repeat, we do not see the earth. The dispatcher made a request for their coordinates. The answer greatly puzzled all the officers present: “We cannot determine our location.” We don't know where we are now. We seem to be lost. It was as if it was not a former pilot speaking into the microphone, but a confused newcomer who had not the slightest idea about navigation over the sea! In this situation, the representatives of the airbase took the only correct solution: “Head west!”
There's no way planes can get past Florida's long coastline. But... -We don’t know where the west is. Nothing works... Strange... We can't determine the direction. Even the ocean does not look the same as usual!.. They are trying to give target designation to the squadrons from the ground, but due to the sharply increased atmospheric interference, this advice, apparently, was not heeded. The dispatchers themselves had difficulty catching snippets of radio conversations between the pilots: “We don’t know where we are.” It must be about 225 miles northeast of the base... It looks like we... At 16.45 a strange report comes from Taylor: “We are over the Gulf of Mexico.” Ground controller Don Poole decided that the pilots were either confused or crazy; the indicated location was on the completely opposite side of the horizon! At 17.00 it became clear that the pilots were on the verge of a nervous breakdown, one of them shouted into the air: “Damn it, if we had flown west, we would have gotten home!” Then Taylor’s voice: “Our home is in the northeast...” The first fear soon passed somewhat, some islands were spotted from the planes. “The ground is below me, the terrain is rough. I'm sure it's Kis..."

Ground services also took direction of the missing, and there was hope that Taylor would restore orientation... But everything was in vain. Darkness fell. The planes that took off to search for the flight returned with nothing (another plane disappeared during the search)... Taylor’s very last words are still being debated. Radio amateurs were able to hear: “It seems that we are kind of ... we are descending into white waters ... we are completely lost ...” According to the reporter and writer A. Ford, in 1974, 29 years later, one radio amateur shared the following information: Allegedly, last words commander were “Don’t follow me... They look like people from the Universe...”

So, the first and indisputable conclusion that follows from listening to radio recordings is that the pilots encountered something unusual and strange in the air. This fateful meeting was the first not only for them, but also, probably, they had not heard about anything like this from their colleagues and friends. Only this can explain the strange disorientation and panic in a normal normal situation. The ocean has a strange appearance, “white water” has appeared, instrument needles are dancing - you must agree that this list can frighten anyone, but not experienced naval pilots, who have probably already been in extreme conditions before required course above the sea. Moreover, they had an excellent opportunity to return to the shore: it was enough to turn to the west, and then the planes would never have flown past the huge peninsula.

This is where we come to the main reason for panic. The bomber flight, in full accordance with common sense and following recommendations from the ground, searched for land only in the west for about an hour and a half, then alternately in the west and east for about an hour. And it didn’t find her. The fact that an entire American state has disappeared without a trace can deprive even the most resilient of their sanity.

But where were they really? On the ground, the crew's report about the sighting of Keys was perceived as the delirium of panicked pilots. Direction finders could be mistaken by exactly 180 degrees and this property was taken into account, but at that moment the operators knew that the planes were somewhere in the Atlantic (30 degrees N, 79 degrees W) north of the Bahamas and they were simply in It never occurred to me that in fact the missing link was already much further west, in the Gulf of Mexico. If this is the case, then Taylor may have actually seen the Florida Keys, and not the "Florida Keys-like" islands.
In 1987, it was there, on the shelf floor of the Gulf of Mexico, that one of the “Avengers” built in the forties was found! It is possible that the other 4 are also somewhere nearby. The question remains: how could the planes move seven hundred kilometers to the west without anyone noticing?

...A few years after this truly stunning disappearance, on February 2, 1953, a British military transport plane with 39 crew members and military personnel on board flew a little north of the Bermuda Triangle. Suddenly radio contact with him was interrupted, and the plane did not return to base at the appointed time. The cargo ship Woodward, sent to search the supposed site of the disaster, could not find anything: it was blowing strong wind, there was a small wave on the sea. But no oil stains accompanying the disaster, no debris were found...

...Exactly a year later, almost in the same place, a US Navy plane with 42 passengers on board disappeared. Hundreds of ships plied the ocean in the hope of finding at least the remains of the aircraft. But again all their searches were unsuccessful: nothing could be found. American experts were unable to give any explanation for the cause of the disaster.

...This list, which already consists of fifty truly large ships and aircraft, can be supplemented by the death of the large cargo ship Anita. In March 1973, it left the port of Norfolk with coal and headed for Hamburg. In the area of the Bermuda Triangle, it was caught in a storm and, without giving an SOS distress signal, is believed to have sank. A few days later, a single lifebuoy with the inscription “Anita” was found in the sea.

A little about the geography of the Bermuda Triangle
The vertices of the triangle (see map) are Bermuda, Puerto Rico and Miami Florida (or the southern cape of Florida). However, these boundaries are not considered too punctually. Supporters of the existence of the mysterious Bermuda Triangle are well aware that in this case, a very important water area north of Cuba and Haiti is excluded from its boundaries. Therefore, the triangle is the most different ways corrected: some add part of the Gulf of Mexico or even the entire Gulf to it, others - the northern part Caribbean Sea.
Many continue the Bermuda Triangle east into the Atlantic Ocean all the way to the Azores; some overzealous heads would happily push its border even further to the north. Therefore, the Bermuda Triangle is not a strictly limited geographical area, like, say. Bay of Bengal or Bering Sea. Nor is it a legal geographical name. That's why it's written with lowercase letter. If we insist on the classic triangle, limited by the three indicated vertices, then in the end we will be convinced that almost half of all the mysterious disappearances for which the triangle is so famous will not be included in it. Some of these cases occurred far to the east in the Atlantic, others, on the contrary, in the strip of waters between the triangle and the coast of the United States of America, and still others in the Gulf of Mexico or the Caribbean Sea.

The area of the Bermuda Triangle in its classic boundaries between Bermuda, Miami in Florida and Puerto Rico is just over 1 million km2. This is a solid part of the ocean and, accordingly, the seabed and atmosphere above the ocean.

And here are a couple of theories of the Bermuda Triangle:
Supporters of the Bermuda Triangle mystery have put forward several dozen various theories to explain the mysterious phenomena that, in their opinion, occur there. These theories include speculation about the abduction of ships by aliens from outer space or the inhabitants of Atlantis, movement through holes in time or rifts in space, and other paranormal reasons. Other authors try to give scientific explanation these phenomena.

Their opponents claim that reports of mysterious events in the Bermuda Triangle are greatly exaggerated. Ships and aircraft are lost in other areas globe, sometimes without a trace. A radio malfunction or the suddenness of the disaster may prevent the crew from transmitting a distress signal. Finding debris at sea is not an easy task, especially during a storm or when the exact location of the disaster is unknown. Considering the very busy traffic in the Bermuda Triangle area, frequent cyclones and storms, a large number of shoals, the number of disasters that have occurred here that have not been explained is not unusually large.
Methane emissions. Several theories have been proposed to explain the sudden death of ships and planes by gas emissions - for example, as a result of the breakdown of methane hydrate on the seabed. According to one of these theories, large bubbles saturated with methane form in the water, in which the density is reduced so much that ships cannot float and instantly sink. Some suggest that methane rising into the air can also cause plane crashes - for example, due to a decrease in air density, which leads to a decrease in lift and distortion of altimeter readings. In addition, methane in the air can cause engines to stall.
The possibility of a fairly rapid (within tens of seconds) sinking of a ship that found itself on the border of such a gas release was indeed confirmed experimentally. Wandering waves. It has been suggested that the cause of the death of some ships, including in the Bermuda Triangle, may be the so-called. wandering waves, which are thought to reach a height of 30 m.
Infrasound. It is assumed that under certain conditions at sea, infrasound can be generated, which affects crew members, causing panic, as a result of which they abandon the ship.

...So, the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle still exists. What's behind all these disappearances? Only time can answer this question.

The history of mankind is full of mysteries and secrets. People have always been attracted to the unexplored space of oceans and seas. Legends were compiled based on travel and research. Ancient maps depicting various sea monsters have survived to this day. Times change, but the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle remains unsolved. His glory is intertwined with mysticism and anomalies. Scientists of several generations are trying to explain the essence of this phenomenon. But no matter how technologies and research methods develop, not a single person knows the truth about the mysterious Triangle.

Discoverers of the anomalous zone

The anomalies occurring in the Atlantic Ocean are quite ancient phenomena, although in ancient times it never occurred to anyone to give their location a name. People who had just begun to discover new countries did not think about in which ocean there was a frightening place that is now called the Bermuda Triangle. For the first time, information regarding the mysterious Triangle and acting as a sensation appeared in the second half of the 20th century; in 1950, the American E. Jones used this phrase. The published brochure had 17 pages and 6 photographs. Then no one paid enough attention to this information, and over time it was forgotten.

In 1964, another American named Vincent Gaddis wrote about the existence of a mystical place in the Bermuda region. His article contained several pages and was published in a famous magazine. Later, having collected more information, he devoted an entire chapter to the phenomenon, publishing it in one of the popular books called “Invisible Horizons.” This gave impetus to the fact that the anomalous zone became interesting to ordinary people: everyone wanted to know as much as possible about the sensation.

Real stories

1945 - a military squadron with an experienced crew suddenly disappears in the Atlantic Ocean. It was a normal flight over calm sea in clear weather. The pilots managed to report that the navigation instruments had failed and spatial orientation had been lost. Panic, unusual for these people, was heard in the voices. They said the ocean looked unusual. The crew flew either west or east, but never found land, although the search took almost three hours. When land appeared, it seemed strange, and they did not land. The pilots talked about white water, that everything around was scary, later it was said that the water was not white, but green. The search for the squadron did not yield any results, and during the events another plane disappeared.

Late 60s - early 70s - interest in what was happening in the area where the Bermuda Triangle is located increases. Every day there are publications in which new and forgotten secrets of this phenomenon appear. The anomalous zone is beginning to be attributed incredible stories. The disappearances of ships, people, and planes that once occurred in that area acquire a mystical component. The public is interested in the question of what the Bermuda Triangle is and where it is located. Fans appear mysterious place who put revealing its secrets above their own lives.

Where is the Bermuda Triangle on the world map

The anomalous zone is a water area in the northwest Atlantic Ocean, which is limited by three symbolic peaks - Bermuda, the southern cape of Florida (Miami). Puerto Rico. The mystical place has the following characteristics:

  • the area of the water area (if we take the classic boundaries of the triangle as they would pass on the map) is more than one million square kilometers;
  • most of the bottom is shelf, where drilling was once carried out in the hope of finding minerals;
  • water temperature and current vary at different times of the year;
  • all natural data, including the movement of air masses over the ocean and salinity, are well studied and included in specialized catalogs.

The area where the mysterious Bermuda Triangle is located is no different from other geographical places. However, the fact that ships, people and planes disappear there gives the place mystery and mystery.

Construction in the ocean

1992 - scientists unofficially explore the bottom of the anomalous water area. In its very center they find a pyramid of impressive size, three times higher than Cheops. The study of the artifact lasted about a month. It turned out that its surface is completely smooth: there are no shells or algae, as well as traces of a long stay in a salty environment. Even division into blocks was not detected. The surface of the find consists of a strange material that is unknown to mankind - something between polished ceramics and glass.

Location of the anomalous zone: differences of opinion

On the world map, the area where the Triangle is located is not indicated in any way. It actually has this shape if you draw lines from Bermuda to Puerto Rico, from there to Miami, and then back to Bermuda. The boundaries of the Triangle, also called the Devil's Triangle, are not indicated on the world map; they are considered conditional, since mysterious disappearances are also observed outside the zone.

Scientists argue about the correct distribution of even the visual boundaries of the Triangle on the world map. The Gulf of Mexico and the northern part of the Caribbean Sea are also ready to be classified as an anomalous zone. Disputes arise as to which ocean the Bermuda Triangle is located in. In publications one can find the opinion that the boundaries of the anomalous water area are moving far to the east of the Atlantic Ocean (to the place where the Azores begin). Ardent fans of the phenomenon are ready to extend the boundaries of the zone far to the north. But still, most researchers, when asked in which ocean the Bermuda Triangle is located, firmly answer - in the Atlantic.

If an ordinary atlas map can show where the Bermuda Triangle is located, then it is much more difficult to explain in words. Considering the desire to expand the boundaries of this place, we can say that the anomalous zone does not have strict geometric outlines. Therefore, its boundaries are symbol the place where the phenomenon is localized. Thus, it cannot be classified as a geographical area.

Theories of the origin of the anomalous zone

There is a consensus on how the Triangle, which frightens many sailors and pilots, appeared - as a result of geological activity. In fact, there is nothing mysterious about the appearance of this place. Researchers put forward other opinions, but all of them were criticized by scientists. Over the past 100 years, about half a thousand planes and ships have disappeared in the zone of anomalous phenomena, so we can say: something strange is in this area, and it is causing the death of people, sea and air transport.

Let's pay attention to some theories, attempts to explain what is happening in the anomalous zone:

  • the cause of the disasters is giant wandering waves up to 30 meters high;
  • infrasonic waves are generated in the ocean, causing the crew to panic - people rush into the water;
  • in the mystical area there are so-called blue holes, the remains of tunnels through which you can move in time;
  • gigantic gas bubbles filled with methane form in the ocean. Once inside, sea and air transport goes to the bottom, since the density of the air or water inside the resulting bubble is low;
  • the mystical water area is the place where the lost city of Atlantis was once located. If you believe the legend, the crystals were the sources of his energy; they send waves from the bottom of the ocean that disable the navigation equipment of planes and ships;
  • a sharp change in weather conditions in the water area occurs due to the presence of a powerful warm Gulf Stream current there;
  • the area of mystical incidents - the place through which aliens get to Earth;
  • the impossibility of detecting the remains of air and sea transport that have suffered a disaster is due to the peculiarities of the relief that is characteristic of the bottom of the water area - it is too confusing;
  • air and sea transport disappears as it is subject to attacks by pirates and as a result of unofficial military actions;
  • in the area of water there is a curvature of space and magnetic fog occurs.

Complete fiction?

Those who believe that there are no anomalies are ready to prove: namely human factor leads to the death of air and sea transport and crew. Even a professional can become disoriented in space; the most reliable equipment sometimes fails. All this leads to disasters and accidents - there is nothing abnormal about this.

There is also an opinion that all theories regarding the mystical place in the Bermuda region are based on superstitions. This allows us to speculate on this topic and keep humanity in suspense. There are publications that indicate that all theories are based on legends and tales of sailors. Take the same Christopher Columbus, who described dancing lights on the horizon and flames in the sky, and navigational instruments continually stopped working. Enthusiasts interpreted these records in their own way and continued to develop mythical stories.

As for the modern view of Columbus's records, the lights he saw were the flames of fires in a Taino village. The compass did not work because the movement of a certain star was calculated incorrectly. And the flames observed in the sky were meteorites.

Disputes regarding the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle continue. The disappearances of people, ships and aircraft in this area are not fully explained. Maybe someday the answer will appear, but for now we can only wait.
