How the hob is attached to the countertop. How to properly install a hob into a countertop

Modern kitchen sets allow you to independently install a gas, electric or induction hob. Such models can be used both together with an oven, that is, to be dependent, and separately, that is, to be independent. Despite some differences in their design, general rules, which should be followed when carrying out work, are similar for all versions.

Preparing the bore hole

Marking

How accurately the marking is carried out depends on appearance finished kitchen, and an error of even half a centimeter will force you to purchase a new countertop.

Marking can be done in two ways:

  • put the device in place and circle it with a marker;
  • calculate and mark the mounting location to the nearest millimeter.

Despite the apparent simplicity and attractiveness of the first path, there are a lot of chances to make mistakes and apply incorrect markings.

Preliminary sizing

It is much more reliable to mark the installation location through careful calculations:

  1. Borders are applied to the surface of the tabletop internal space cabinets above which the hob will be placed. Thus, the place within which the work will be carried out will be designated. The markings must be applied with a pencil so that the lines can be easily erased upon completion of the work. If the countertop does not allow you to draw clearly visible lines, then you should stick paper masking tape on its surface, and draw markings on it.
  2. It is necessary to find the future center of the hole into which the housing will be installed. To do this, diagonals of a rectangle are drawn on the tabletop, formed by the front and back parts of the tabletop and the drawn boundaries of the cabinet.
  3. The center will be located at the intersection point of the drawn diagonals. hob. You need to draw two straight lines through it: one parallel to the edge of the tabletop, the other perpendicular.
  4. On these straight lines you need to mark the dimensions of the built-in part of the housing. You can look at them in the technical documentation or try them on yourself. These dimensions should be increased by 1-2 mm to make it more convenient to install the device later.
  5. Straight lines are drawn through the marked marks (parallel and perpendicular to the edge of the tabletop). They form a rectangle, exactly corresponding to the recessed part of the body and located in the center of the tabletop.
  6. It is necessary to ensure that there is compliance between the final marking lines and surrounding objects. minimum distance specified by the manufacturer in the technical documentation.
  7. The resulting rectangle must be circled with a marker, and extra lines erase so as not to make a mistake when cutting a hole.

The marked rectangle corresponds to the size of the hob

Cutting the mounting hole

To cut out a seat for the hob, you can use the following tools:

  • milling machine;
  • jigsaw;
  • drill.

The highest quality cut is obtained when working with a milling machine. A slightly lower-quality cut is made by an electric jigsaw with a fine-toothed file.

For work you can use a drill or jigsaw

The procedure for cutting a hole with a jigsaw is as follows:

  • At the corners of the marked rectangle (with inside) drill holes with an 8-10 mm drill.
  • Using a fine-toothed file, carefully make a cut along the marked lines. The body of the jigsaw cannot be held suspended; it should be pressed tightly against the tabletop.

The hole is cut along the marked lines

But not every household has convenient tools. A much less beautiful, but nevertheless suitable for installation cut can be made using a conventional drill.

The procedure for cutting a mounting hole using a drill is as follows:

  • Using an 8-10 mm drill, holes are made along the intended line. They need to be drilled from the inside of the marks so that the drilled areas are in contact with the intended cutting line. Holes must be made as often as possible so that the cut piece of the tabletop can be easily broken off.
  • Rough edges of the hole must be aligned with the marked line. To do this, you can use a rasp or a small file for wood or metal. The resulting edges must be made as smooth as possible.

Attention! After the mounting hole is made, you need to insert the hob into it. The device should fit effortlessly and completely cover the cut hole with its body.

Sealing the mounting hole

The next step is sealing. It is necessary to protect the countertop from water during cleaning or cooking. Table top made of wood or particle board This may cause it to swell and deteriorate.

Sealing is done using acrylic sealant for plumbing or nitro varnish. It must be carefully applied in a thin layer from the inside to the ends of the hole made. There is no need to apply sealant to the top surface of the countertop - a special gasket in the form of a sealing tape that comes with the panel will be used there.

The ends of the table top are treated with silicone

Sealing tape sticker:

  • An adhesive layer covered with a film is applied to the sealing tape. It should not be removed all at once, but peeled off gradually as it sticks to the surface.
  • The tape is glued around the perimeter of the mounting hole in one piece. It is not cut at the corners, but simply glued with a turn.
  • The end and beginning of the tape are connected end-to-end, without overlap or gap.

Some manufacturers equip hobs with aluminum seals. Instructions for installing them are contained in the documentation for the device.

Panel fastening

The hob is mounted as follows:

  • The device is inserted into the mounting hole and centered so that the front side is parallel to the edge of the countertop.
  • From inside the cabinet, the cabinet is attached to the tabletop with special plates included in the delivery set.
  • Installation must be carried out in such a way that there are no gaps between the hob and the countertop.
  • Use a utility knife to trim off the excess sealant from the top.

The seal is cut with a utility knife

Connecting an installed hob

Electrical panel

It is advisable to provide the connection point for the electric hob before installation kitchen set. The socket must meet all electrical safety requirements:

  • have a grounding line;
  • The supply copper cable must have a cross-section of at least 4 square meters. mm.

A hole is cut in the back wall of the base cabinet opposite the electrical outlet of such a size that you can easily insert and remove the plug from the hob by hand.

Sockets installed for self-connection come in two types:

  • three-pin;
  • four-pin.

If there is a plug installed on the hob cord, then to connect it, just plug it into the outlet. The power cord must be of such length that it is not too tight when connecting the device.

Plugs and sockets for connecting hobs

For models sold without a plug, certain steps will be required:

  • If the socket is three-pin and there are four wires in the wire, then you will need to connect a two-phase model to a single-phase network. To do this, wires with black and brown insulation are connected in the cord. This connection is connected to the socket phase. The blue neutral wire is connected to the socket neutral, and the green-yellow wire is connected to ground. All connections must be securely insulated.
  • If the placement of the wires in the socket is unknown, then using a multimeter you need to determine the phase and zero. If necessary, they are swapped so that they match the wiring in the plug of the device.

Attention! When installing an electric hob yourself, you must provide mandatory installation individual RCD and circuit breaker. For example, for a 16A socket you need an RCD of at least 40A, and an automatic circuit breaker - at least 25A.

Induction hob

The induction hob is connected using the same general principles, as electric.
Many models do not have power cords, and only have terminals for connecting an external cable.

The connection diagram is printed next to the terminal block

In this case, the connection is carried out in the following order:

  • Remove the protective cover from the back of the device.
  • The external cable is passed through the cover.
  • The cord is connected to the terminal plate according to the diagram supplied with the panel.
  • If a jumper is installed connecting zero and ground, it must be removed.

Gas panel

Household gas is a source of increased danger, therefore special requirements are imposed on the kitchen area:

  • Availability of ventilation hood.
  • Air flow of at least 2 cubic meters. per hour for each kilowatt of panel power.
  • The distance to the wall is at least 130 mm.
  • The supply gas hose must be located in such a way that it is not subject to excessive heat and allows for periodic inspection by the inspection organization.

The hob is connected with a flexible hose

Attention! If the mandatory requirements are not met, the operating organization will not allow the installed gas panel to be operated.

The panel connection is carried out by a certified specialist in the following order:

  • To the seats threaded connections sealing fum tape is applied.
  • Paronite gaskets are inserted into the gas hose.
  • The hose is connected to the hob and the gas supply point.
  • The joints are checked for leaks using soap foam.
  • The power cord plugs into a spill-proof outlet.

For operation gas models their acceptance by the service organization responsible for this work in the area of residence is necessary.

You can install a hob into a kitchen unit on your own, carrying out the work carefully in accordance with the recommendations presented.

Looks very nice and modern in the kitchen hob. So, you bought a hob. Now how to embed the hob into the countertop with your own hands? Is it possible to do this yourself and what are the subtleties and recommendations in this matter?

So, you decided to save money and install the hob yourself and not call a furniture assembler, then this article is for you!

Installing a hob is not that difficult, but, as in any business, there are some subtleties. The most important thing to have on hand necessary tool, desire and not a lot of patience.

Modern hobs can be dependent (i.e., the hob is installed only in conjunction with a dependent oven) or independent (in this case, the independent hob is connected autonomously).

Dependent hob connects through the oven, and both components are controlled using a touch panel or conventional controls located on the surface. The dependent hob is located above the oven, as in the design of a conventional kitchen stove.

Independent hob can be installed anywhere at the client’s request, the main thing is that it does not violate the basic rules for installing hobs.

Hobs are also divided according to heating method into: gas and electric.

Gas hob

When purchasing a gas hob, when self-installation, you need to carefully check the correctness of all connections, as this is dangerous for your life, so it is better to call a specialist who can connect your hob to natural gas. There are situations when the hob cannot be installed due to the fact that gas pipe goes too far from the wall and as a result of the size of the countertop and hob, you will not be allowed to do this. Consider this.

Electric hob

With an electric hob, everything is much simpler; just follow the rules of electrical safety and caution when working with electrical appliances. When purchasing a hob, you should carefully consider the dimensions of the hob itself.

Installing the hob

What tools are needed to install the hob? You won’t need a lot of tools, namely:

  • drill or drill-driver;
  • screwdriver;
  • electric jigsaw;
  • pencil;
  • roulette;
  • measuring angle;
  • a pair of adjustable wrenches;
  • flat and Phillips screwdrivers.

This is the tool needed to cut in and install the hob.

The installation of a hob can be divided into several separate types of work.

First– this is the implementation of the correct insertion of the hob into the countertop.

Second– what you need to do, actually connecting the hob to gas or electricity.

And so let's get started. The first step is always to read the documentation that comes with the hob. There are always approximate instructions and a diagram of the insert for the hob. Based on the dimensions of the hob recommended by the manufacturer, you will need to make a cut in the countertop. Although manufacturers provide cutting instructions in the hob documentation, their accuracy should still be checked.

To embed the hob into kitchen countertop, you need to apply markings along which the technological hole will be cut.

Typically, the hob is embedded above a special work table, into which the oven will then be installed.

Where the hob will be installed, from the edge of the tabletop, which is adjacent to the wall, measure from 50 to 75 mm. The manufacturer recommends a standard of 50 mm, but in some cases this is not possible, since either a gas pipe passes through, or this is the wish of the owners. In this case, we measure and put marks in two and draw a solid line along them with a pencil, along this line the tabletop will be cut. Once again we check the distance from the edge of the tabletop to the line in several places, guided by the expression measure seven times, cut once!

Now that we have the first line, we can begin further marking the surface. Of course, there are so many craftsmen, there are so many ways, but I usually do this: I put a ruler at the bottom of the tabletop along the wall and draw a line on the edge of the tabletop on one side and then on the other, then I continue it with the help of a measuring angle, so that it goes to the top table tops, so I know exactly the edges of the inner walls of the work table.

Then, using the same corner, I draw these lines until they intersect with the first line. I check the intersection angle between these lines, it should be 90 degrees. After this, from the first line along these lines you need to measure a distance equal to 490 mm and put marks along which we will draw a line parallel to the first.

But that's not all, since we only marked two along which the saw will go. Now we measure the distance between the lines that we drew from below; it may differ in size, but it is approximately equal to 576 mm, and our width should be equal to 560 mm. Now subtract 560 from 576 and divide the resulting value in half. It turns out that on each side you need to step back 8 mm inwards and draw a line on each side.

Now the outline along which we will cut is ready. Once again we check all the dimensions for compliance, check the diagonals, they must be the same. We drill holes in the corners so that the jigsaw file can pass through them freely.

Connecting the hob

Once everything is done, you can connect the electric cooktop to electricity. To do this, use a wire for single-phase current - three wires of four square millimeters each. For this, a PVS 3 x 4 cable and a special 32A socket are used. Most apartments have one phase, so it is necessary to install jumpers according to the diagram below. For three-phase, use a 5 x 2.5 mm² wire.

The technology for embedding a gas surface is the same, but in addition to the wire, it is necessary to ensure that the gas hose is sealed.

Installing a hob: basic rules and recommendations

The joy of purchasing a hob is understandable - now a new beautiful and smart assistant will appear in your kitchen. However, in order for her to fully demonstrate her talents, she needs to know how to install the hob correctly.

How to install a hob: general requirements

This technique comes in electric or gas format. This is reflected in the difference in panel installation, but the general rules before the process itself remain the same:

  1. Mandatory attendance ventilation system. Modern rules hygiene and safety regulations require that there must be a hood above any hob. If this cannot be done, then you should definitely install a high-power fan on the window.
  2. The source material for the countertop can be anything - the main thing is that its heat resistance does not fall below 100 °C. This imposes certain obligations on the thickness, which should be within 25 mm (not thinner).
  3. If the installation is done between two cabinets, then you need to leave a distance from the wall of each to the stove of no less than 15 cm. For the kitchen wall, the requirements are slightly reduced, but you still should not cross the threshold of 5 cm. If this rule cannot be observed , then it is imperative to lay heat-insulating material between the wall and the panel.

Installing a hob into a countertop: process features

The surface of the tabletop will have to be sawed through - a jigsaw is best for this. The materials you should prepare are:

  • special sealant;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • clamps.

After compliance general requirements you can start the work itself. It will consist of following the following simple algorithm:

  1. The instructions usually indicate the dimensions of the panel. If it doesn’t exist, then you can measure it yourself, but you don’t need to do it close together - you need to leave a gap of 1-2 mm between the panel and the tabletop.
  2. It is better to attach and trace the cardboard model first.
  3. The gaps between the hob and the edge of the countertop should be at least 5 cm.
  4. Drill out the corners of the tabletop with an electric drill.
  5. Carefully cut along the marked lines from one cut corner to another.
  6. Seal the edges of the tabletop at the cut points with a special sealant (included with the purchase). It is also recommended to use silicone sealant, which will protect the countertop from negative influence excessive humidity.
  7. Lower the hob into the resulting niche.
  8. Align it, but do not apply too much force.
  9. Firmly fix the surface using special clamps, securing them with self-tapping screws - this will hold the panel in one place.

Further actions in the event will depend on what connection method this equipment has.

How to install an electric hob

Installing a socket for a hob

An initial grounding check is of great importance in connecting such a stove. Second important rule- this is a ban on the use of adapters and extension cords.

The installation of an outlet for the hob also has its own characteristics. You need to take care of its location before starting work so that this moment does not distract. It is best to place it below the tabletop level.

Very often, in this process, the kitchen set is dismantled - this is necessary to prepare a new electrical wiring channel, strengthen it and cover it with a cement or putty layer. Only after this is a hole cut out in the back wall of the furniture, through which the panel will be connected to the outlet.

Following actions

They must follow these instructions:

  1. The electrical cord with grounding is connected to the connectors of the stove.
  2. The panel itself is connected to communications. It is possible to improve the power supply system.
  3. Functionality check in progress.

If the connection is made to a single-phase network, then the work is supplemented by the following points:

  1. A separate electrical line is laid (it is better to use a three-core 3x4 wire).
  2. A special socket with grounding is installed.
  3. A circuit breaker is installed.

Refinement of the power supply system is also very important - this significantly reduces both the breakdown of the device itself and the risk of injury electric shock user. To carry it out, you should contact specialists.

A similar installation can be seen more clearly in the following video:

Installing a gas hob

Due to the specific nature of connecting such equipment, only a gas service employee should carry out its connection - poor quality work by amateurs can lead to tragedy. The recommendations below are specifically for them (and for those who have already repeatedly connected devices to the gas main).

Connection features

There is a difference between recipient jets for main or bottled gas. This should be taken into account when connecting. You can unscrew them with keys 6,7 and 8. Those that go for main gas, have a larger hole diameter.

The panel is connected to a gas source using a special flexible hose. In combined panels for additional security It is worth installing a thermal shut-off valve - it will shut off the gas supply if the temperature crosses the threshold of 80 degrees (a second such valve will need to be installed on the gas cylinder).

After connection, all joints are checked for leaks. Usually a soap solution is used for this - bubbles will appear on it if something is leaking somewhere.

Have you thought about self-production kitchen furniture? Then it’s time for you to find out that making it is only half the battle, and the second half of this job is to complete the furniture with all kinds of equipment. These include built-in washing and dishwashers, and a sink, and an oven, and, of course, a hob, which will be discussed in this article. Together with the site okuhne.net, we will deal with the question of how to install a hob with your own hands and how to connect it to the home gas pipeline and electrical wiring.

Installing a hob: marking the installation location

Marking is perhaps the most important stage of work associated with installing a hob with your own hands, which, oddly enough, has the most nuances. Judge for yourself - the entire appearance of the kitchen depends on how clearly and accurately you can mark and then cut a hole for the hob. This is exactly the case in which a mistake of one centimeter can turn out to be irreparable - you always need to remember the cost of the countertop. Buying a new one is not that cheap. The fact is that the panel itself must fit clearly above the cabinet, and there is practically no margin in width.

There are two ways to mark the mounting hole - you can simply lay it on the tabletop, center it by eye and trace it with a pencil, or you can follow the path of the professionals and calculate everything down to the millimeter. Naturally, it is better to choose the second option to resolve the issue, since in this case the chances of making a mistake are minimal. This is done as follows.

Now all that’s left to do is cut out and install the hob into the hole. We'll talk about this further. For those who do not like to read and delve into what is written, we attach a video on installing a hob into a countertop.

Installing a gas hob: two ways to cut the hole

You can cut a mounting hole for the hob using three different electric tools - a jigsaw, a drill or a hand-held milling machine. The most accurate and beautiful cut is obtained when using a hand router, but you don’t even have to ask about the presence of one in the home workshop of a person not involved in construction. Not everyone has a jigsaw either, but at least it is not very expensive, and you can buy it to carry out this work. Well, almost every business man has a drill. We’ll start with that, but first I’ll warn you about the quality of the hole obtained with a drill - it is, one might say, disgusting. Torn edges It is quite difficult to seal, but it must be done, and problems will arise in this regard. In principle, they are solvable, but more on that later.

After the hole is ready, it is imperative to waterproof it - if water or even just moisture gets into the end of the tabletop, there is a very high probability that the material from which it is made will swell and the tabletop will deteriorate. As a rule, the end of the cutout is treated with silicone. If you cut a hole with a drill, then it will be quite difficult to do it efficiently - you will have to tinker.

Installation of an electric hob: fastening and connection

To make it easier to understand how to install a hob into a countertop hole, let’s imagine it in the form of a sequence of work - so to speak, in the form of a small, but clear instructions for installing the hob.

Basically, that's it. An electric hob is mounted in exactly the same way. The only exception is the absence of gas hose in it. There may, of course, be other nuances - for example, if we talk about an oven-dependent hob, then the installation process here looks a little different. First, install the oven, and then the panel, which is connected directly to the oven itself.

Basically, that's it. Now judge for yourself whether this work is difficult or not. You can deal with it yourself or, perhaps, turn to specialists. In general, based on experience, I can say that most people who are wondering how to install a hob with their own hands cope with this work easily. In fact, it is not complicated, and all that is needed to successfully complete the case is to strictly follow all the subtleties and nuances.

Users have already repeatedly contacted us asking us to describe how to install a hob in a countertop. And although the process of installing kitchen appliances may seem very complicated at first glance, after studying specific materials, almost anyone can perform these operations. Let's not waste time - let's get to the point!

Preparatory activities

Of course, the installation process of the hob must be preceded by preparatory operations. Choosing a hob and studying the passport data household appliances, preparation of the tool, preparation of the installation site - these are the main ones.

How to properly install a hob

It should be noted right away that the process of installing gas and electric hobs into countertops is almost identical and differs only in that when installing the electric version, an additional installation of an electrical outlet is required (to connect the device). Whereas the installation of a gas panel is associated with the supply and connection of gas communications (ideally, this type of work is best left to professionals).

The first step for installing a “kitchen helper” is to prepare a cutout - a niche into which the entire working part products. Moreover, given the visual openness of the specified area, this type of work should be approached very carefully.

So, if kitchen furniture is made to order, then this procedure It is more advisable to entrust the craftsmen who will do all the work at the stage of assembling the headset. If you plan to do all the work yourself, then you need to act in the following sequence:

First, you should decide on the overall dimensions of the cutout. Why can you get it? this information from the product passport data, or (if none are available) calculate the required values by measuring the inside of the panel. It should be taken into account that the optimal gap between the surface frame and the tabletop is a distance of 1 to 2 mm. Since in this case the surface will not move freely in the prepared niche.

The second, but no less important step is marking the tabletop. What are these received for? dimensions should be transferred to the surface of the material. Moreover, sometimes for this it is enough to use a ready-made paper template (may come complete with the surface), which is laid on the surface and traced along the internal contour with a marker. When this template is missing, it is quite possible to apply the markings yourself, for which you can use a straight ruler and a marker. It is very important when applying markings to adhere to the standard recommendations from the manufacturer, which are that the minimum distance from any ends of the tabletop to the corresponding side of the hob should be 5 cm. While the thickness of the tabletop itself should be at least 38mm.

After the markings have been applied, the corresponding segment should be cut out in the tabletop. This is very easy to do using a jigsaw with a wood file (fine tooth). For these purposes, holes with a diameter of about 10 mm are first made in each of the corners of the marked rectangle (the end edges of the hole should not protrude beyond the markings). Afterwards, the tool blade is inserted into one of the holes and the material is cut along a given path. When performing this operation, you should be very scrupulous and do everything according to basic recommendations (We recommend reading the following material on how to use a jigsaw).

When the tabletop segment is removed, measures should be taken to protect the wood-based material from aggressive influences (moisture, temperature changes). For these purposes, the cut points should be protected around the entire perimeter with a specialized sealant (supplied with the panel), or treated with plumbing silicone sealant. For better adhesion, the end parts of the surface should be vacuumed before laying the silicone.

The next step is to recess the panel into the cutout of the tabletop. And although everything is extremely simple here, pay attention to the following nuances:

  • Never try to push the surface into the tabletop with force (if necessary, it is better to file the required edge of the tabletop).
  • If the surface has a slight play, then it is more justified to align its location along the front edge.
  • To prevent debris from getting under the material of the hob, before direct installation, you should stick a special sealant (included in the kit) around the entire perimeter of the underside of the hob.

The final stage of installation is fixing the panel to the tabletop using specialized fasteners, which are supplied with household product. These fasteners are located on the bottom of the hob and block its movement in the countertop niche during operation. After that, an electrical cable of the appropriate cross-section is connected to the surface terminals and electrical plug for connection to an electrical outlet. It should also be noted that the socket must have a protective ground.

In the case when a gas panel is being installed, it is best to entrust the connection of blue fuel to professionals. But even if this procedure is carried out independently, it is necessary to make sure that the work is performed correctly by coating all joints with a soap solution (no bubbles should form).

  1. In order for the kitchen assistant installation process to be completed with maximum efficiency, the following recommendations should be followed during the implementation of the work:
  2. In advance, even before installation household appliance, an electrical outlet should be installed in the area where the panel is located (usually installed below the countertop).
  3. When cutting out a niche using a jigsaw, you should make sure that the glossy surface of the tabletop is not scratched. For this purpose, the base of the device must be perfectly smooth and installed at a right angle. If possible, cutting operations can be carried out by placing an electric jigsaw on the underside of the tabletop, or by gluing additional protection in the form of masking tape.
  4. To avoid overheating kitchen appliances, the possibility of air exchange should be ensured and the product should be located at a distance (at least 50mm) from the furniture elements located below or oven.
  5. It is advisable to install the hob only after the final assembly of the kitchen unit. This is due to the fact that the material of the cooking surfaces is not always resistant to mechanical stress and can be deformed due to carelessness.
