Leg-split

The most common twine used for needlework is jute. It is easily available at any hardware store. Sold in various lengths in large reels and small reels or balls. The length of the thread is indicated on the packaging. The thread can be thin with 2 connections and thick with up to 10 connections. The choice of thread thickness depends on the intended idea. For decorating small items - no more than 4 connections, large items - from 5 to 10, for jute filigree patterns - 2 connections.

The cost of twine for the same length and thickness depends on the quality of the thread. A straight thread that does not contain impurities and knots is more expensive. The choice is yours - buy a cheap thread and clean it yourself, or a ready-to-use, but expensive one. The twine has different shades of light brown - a little darker, a little lighter, but is easy to paint.

Most easy way- this is to paint acrylic paints finished work. You can dye the thread before working. With the help of whiteness, the thread is lightened or bleached. For coloring in various colors, food or vegetable dyes and paint colors are used.

Glue

For a more durable connection of the twine in the product, Titan, Master or Athlete glue of various brands is used. They are easy to work with. They do not harden instantly, the thread can be adjusted while working; are well absorbed into the twine, making it elastic; easily removed from polyethylene and plastic surfaces.

It is better to pour the glue into a container with a sharp spout so that it can be applied to the product in small portions. Beginning craftsmen can be recommended to use PVA glue. Before you begin, check to see if you are allergic to glue.

Scissors

It is better to choose sharp and small scissors, with rounded tips, so that you can cut the thread at the very base. As you work, do not forget to regularly clean the scissors from residual glue and stuck lint.

Latex gloves

In order not to stain or damage the skin of your hands and nails, it is better to work in thin rubber gloves that match the size of your hand. If you prefer to work without gloves and you are not allergic to glue, apply nourishing cream to your hands before work.

Rug

Cover your work area with a piece of polyethylene, plastic or polyethylene mat. You can use cellophane files. This will protect the table surface from damage. Using a mat will allow you to easily rotate your work.

Varnish

Any finished product is coated with acrylic-based varnish. Finish varnish is sold both in cans of various sizes and in spray cans. Liquid varnish is more economical for handicrafts. Liquid varnish is applied to the product with a brush, covering the entire twine.

When applied at work, a white layer similar to sour cream is formed.

After the varnish dries, this layer will disappear, the surface will become glossy, durable and moisture resistant. It is better to work with varnish in cans on outdoors, since varnish vapors are toxic.

When the basic materials have been purchased, we begin to master the basics of working with twine. Let's start with simple work.

Balls for decoration

  1. Inflate the balloon to the desired size, approximately 10-15 cm in diameter.
  2. Wet the twine with glue. To do this, distribute a small amount of glue over the thread in droplets at a distance of 2 cm and lightly rub it into the thread, the main thing is that the glue does not drip and the “terry” of the thread disappears. We fix the twine just below the equator of the ball, this will be the edge of the product. Leave a small hole through which you can later remove the ball. There is no need to process a long piece of thread; it will dry while you wrap it completely around the ball. We continue to wind the thread moistened with glue in random directions around the ball. The ball must be wrapped completely, but there must be gaps between the threads.
  3. We leave the work to dry directly on the ball. Drying time depends on how much glue was used. Well-dried work holds its shape, the thread does not bend when pressed lightly.
  4. We don't remove the ball. We coat the work with varnish, brushing all areas with a brush. Again, drying time depends on how much varnish was applied.
  5. We check the strength of the product. We pierce the ball and carefully remove it from the inside. The rubber surface of the ball will easily separate from the twine.

The ball is ready. You can make several of these balls from twine. different color or different sizes and use it as a planter for a pot with indoor plant, a vase for dried flowers, put in a large dish and use as an independent decoration.

Organizer for office supplies

To create an organizer, in addition to the materials and tools described above, we will need three carton boxes different sizes and elements for decoration: beads, rhinestones, ribbons, lace, stencils. It all depends on your imagination.

  1. We draw a sketch of the future organizer on paper. How the boxes will be arranged, how they will be decorated.
  2. We begin to wrap the box with twine on top. Apply glue to the surface of the box in small strips and lay the thread. Rotate the box with a mat, not a reel with rope. When laying a coil, lightly press it against the adjacent one. You should not press too hard, as the twine, when saturated with glue, becomes soft and can become deformed, the rows will become wavy. From the side walls we move to the bottom and lay the thread in rows from the outer edge to the center.
  3. We leave the first box to dry and begin to wrap the second and third boxes in the same way. We leave them to dry.
  4. The moment comes to connect the three boxes in accordance with the sketch and decorate with the selected elements. Leave the product to dry completely and then varnish it

The organizer is ready! A very economical and exclusive option. No one else will have this, because it was created according to your sketch. This work can be created together with children, especially if the organizer is intended for them.

Crochet products

Crochet knitters can easily make napkins, coasters, and twine rugs. You can tie a napkin for hot or cold flower pot, a rug on the floor or a blanket on a chair, a flowerpot or a cover for a vase or bottle.

Jute is a natural material that can be easily washed in cool water. After drying it becomes elastic again.

Kvartblog regularly monitors what unusual interior solutions designers come up with and implement in their projects. We noticed that in Lately The use of coarse hemp rope and ropes in home decoration has become popular. These simple materials can add charm to an interior in nautical, rustic, modern and minimalist styles, not to mention eclectic. Most of the ideas that we will talk about can be implemented with your own hands (if great desire and a little diligence), but there are also those that can be purchased in the store (more on them at the very end).

What can be decorated using ropes and ropes?

Mirrors and shelves

A round mirror suspended on a rope is a very popular decorative element, which is often found in nautical-style interiors and even in lofts (for example). Such mirrors are sold in many stores, but you can also make them yourself. As for the shelves, you will need several planks, a long rope, a drill and fasteners. See what the final result might look like. The most important thing is to make sure that the shelves are securely attached, do not wobble and are not going to collapse on someone's head at the most inopportune moment. It’s better to play it safe and secure the shelves separately to the wall, and leave the rope as a decorative element.

Rope and ropes in the interior: lampshades and chandeliers

It's simple. You have a ready-made lamp, lampshade or even an Ilyich light bulb. You need to wrap a rope around the proposed handmade lamp and secure it to keep the structure in place. In the case of a lampshade, the ropes must fit tightly together, so take care good glue(we at Kvartblog prefer a glue gun).

Stair railing

To implement this idea, you will need several fasteners and a long rope. The secret to success is to secure the rope well. This will ensure your safety in case you have to grab the railing sharply if you suddenly stumble (and this does not happen in dachas and in country houses!). We picked three various types rope railings.

Wall decor

You can use rope to create both abstract compositions and whole words. It is worth noting that the rope can also be combined with a garland ( New Year on the way!) or.

Furniture

Complete creative freedom! Oddly enough, almost any piece of furniture can be decorated with ropes, and in some cases not only decorated, but also hung (although any suspended structures It’s better to trust the work to a professional who knows how to make them reliable).

Rug

Elementary Watson! Rope, glue and thick fabric from which to cut the base for the rug. More clearly - .

Separation wall

The advantage of such a wall is that it seems to visually divide the space, but at the same time lets in light! We have seen similar options many times, including in the recent Moscow one.

Vases

The principle is this: you begin to wrap the rope around the surface of the vase, circle by circle, securing it together with reliable glue. The work should follow exactly the same pattern as with a lampshade or stool. In addition to a vase, you can decorate any bowl or bottle in this way. Another simple way to decorate a vase (a transparent one, of course) is to put ropes in it.

Coasters for mugs

As you know, it is better to place hot mugs on some kind of stands instead of a tablecloth. We invite you to pay attention to the simple decor made from ropes. All you need is some string and glue. To make the stand easier, you can use a jar lid, which will keep the rope from unwinding while we glue it.

Curtain tiebacks

Curtain tiebacks always give you room for creativity. What kind of stuff are they made from? Ropes were no exception. Do you know how to tie sea knots? Show off your skills!

A very original and unusual type of home decor is decor made from rope or twine. It seems to us that this type of decor is suitable not only for interiors with a marine theme. Separately decorated with rope, interior elements will look very advantageous.

We bring to your attention a selection on the theme of rope decor.

Surely we all like different little things, such cute and original things that immediately catch the eye and arouse genuine interest. I really want to decorate my house, room, my corner with such things, to show my unique personality and taste.

An ordinary rope by itself is unlikely to become a successful decoration for the home, but with a little effort you can create some very original and remarkable things from it. It will turn out great.

For example, knit a rug out of rope with your own hands or make an excellent chandelier. Moreover, to create a chandelier as a decor from rope, no special labor or time is required. But the result is great, simply great. designer item. To make a chandelier, just inflate an ordinary inflatable ball and randomly, chaotically cover it with rope. The rope is then allowed to dry and the balloon is pierced to burst. All you have to do is fix the lamp in the chandelier and you're done.

The handles of a chest of drawers or table drawers, woven from rope, will look original and at the same time practical.

Wonderful and unusual decor from a rope it can be made from an ordinary, old table and rope. If you cover the table with rope and varnish it, you will get an effective design element. By analogy, you can also do with bottles and vases of simple shape. For variety, you can lay out, again, flowers and various patterns from rope on the surface of bottles covered with rope.

Balls of different shapes (from pin-balls, ordinary plastic balls from children's toys), covered with rope of different textures, shades, and thicknesses, will become a charming decoration made of rope and decoration.

Rope decor is very popular and will fit perfectly into the design of your home.

Show your imagination and you will succeed. Good luck!

For such a rug you will need a sufficient amount of not too thick jute or sisal rope, scissors and a hot glue gun. First, individual elements of the carpet are formed using rope glue, and then the elements are glued into a single fabric (for a complex carpet, you can draw a diagram or glue the elements chaotically).

Interior baskets made from cord

These baskets are sewn with a zigzag seam from fairly thick, but not too dense, braided cords.

Organizer for things, decorated with rope/cord

To make such an organizer, you can take either cotton cord or sisal/jute rope. It is better to take a cord or rope of sufficient thickness. You will also need a suitable container for the base and a hot glue gun. The base can have a round (for example, a plastic basket) or a rectangular (wooden or plastic box) bottom. Glue the cord to the base, turn by turn, and finally cut and glue the tip well. You can add a sign with an inscription - for example, from a piece of leather.

Interior rope basket

This basket is made without a base, so it turns out soft, unlike the organizer from the point above. To make the layers hold better, they should be sewn together using thick, strong threads and glued. Threads, among other things, perform a decorative function here. Gaps wrapped with thread can hide the junction of two pieces of rope.

Vases braided with ropes

The basis here is glass vases different forms. If you want the decor not to stick to the glass and the vases to be able to be taken out of the rope “cases” and washed, try to make sure that the glue does not get on the glass in the places where the ropes are glued. If this option is not important, you can glue it directly to the glass. In a similar way, you can decorate a tin can by pre-processing the sharp edges.

Rope stool seat

First, the stool is braided with one type of rope/cord, then, perpendicularly, while simultaneously creating a pattern, with a second one. The ends of the first type of rope are secured with a furniture stapler. The ends of the second must be secured by tying knots.

  • We cut the thread and fix it by threading it under the bottom thread.
  • Coat with glue, removing excess with a paper napkin.
  • Dry for a day.
  • We deflate the balloon and take it out.
  • Leave it whole or cut off the neck.

Beautiful new crafts made from twine are opened with toy souvenirs, for example, a turtle. It's done simply:

  • Draw the outline of the turtle or print out a suitable template from the Internet.
  • In accordance with it, we cut out a piece of foam rubber.
  • Glue both parts together.
  • We wrap the paws, head and tail with twine.
  • The upper cardboard part is coated with glue, onto which a thread is laid in circles, imitating a turtle shell.

  • Assemble a flower using wire with beads at the end as stamens.

There is another option: twist five circles of the same diameter in a tight spiral, place them on top of each other and secure with glue. Use a contrasting thread (white paper twine) to decorate the edges of each petal and mark the core.
